Cytofast A is a completely automatic instrument for the preparation of slides from any kind of
cellular specimen (PAP smear, urine, etc.) by using the Cytofast method. The system uses a low disposable strategy and is able to perform 80-100 tests/h. It performs the nephelometric reading of the cellular density of samples, in order to determinate the quantity to be added onto the slide for each of them. Automatically, it aspirates the proper quantity of sample from the vial, and, at the same time, it adds the Stickeur solution, balances samples if needed, mixes samples. The instrument then produce monolayer by performing centrifugation of the samples, then discharges the supernatant from the slides and disassembles slides for their supports. Slides are then let to drain on air and the operator proceeds with the standard staining process. The system is under the validation step and will be available by autumn 2009. |
